Luther O. Gant papers 1930 - 1961

This collection consists of memorabilia of Luther Gant's career at Northern Michigan College (now Northern Michigan University) in Marquette, Michigan. The collection is scattered and incomplete. Materials include numerous photographs of Kaye Hall, particularly during winter, and photographs of Luther Gant's retirement celebration. The collection also includes honorary degrees and correspondence from noted Michigan educators. Materials date between 1930 and 1961.

Luther Gant was born in Hancock County, Indiana, in 1888. He graduated from DePauw University and did graduate work in Physics at the University of Chicago. From 1913 to 1917, Gant taught and coached at Ishpeming High School in Ishpeming, Michigan, and came to Northern Michigan College (now Northern Michigan University) in Marquette, Michigan as a coach and mathematics teacher.
